"Antidote" by Taylor Hondos. Another Netgalley recommendation.
Lena Aloha is left a secret cure by her dead father, Dr Aloha but she doesn't know how or where to find it. With most of the population being infected by the devastating "black sickness" disease and Lena getting infected herself, she knows it's a race against time to find the cure and save the rest of mankind. Lena isn't confident she can do this especially being constantly hunted by those who have already been "turned" but with the help of her love interest, Jared and his friends, Holland and Gabe they may just have a chance.
This book was a bit of a disappointment for me. It took a while for the storyline to pick up the pace, from the middle until the end of the book, the storyline concentrated on Lena and Jared's romantic relationship as opposed to Lena trying to find where the cure was hidden. And in the end she still hadn't managed to save herself or the population.
All in all not a good recommendation for me.
